i wanna wake up in a city that doesn't sleep......

Odd Nosdam - Nofoolisnotaintready

i can be a fan of messes. especially music messes. when everything is all mashed together and no one can make sense of it. some people are really put off by this but i happen to like it - even more so when the mess is done correctly.

odd nosdam does just that. maybe he has all his stuff together by running anticon that with his music/mixes he likes to get a little crazy. i dunno, that's just what i like to think.

he's playing at the knitting factory on november 1st. its making me choose nyc for my next getaway that much easier......

p.s. - don't miss Valet in that mix. wtf?! excellent band!

we're the kids in america.....

No Age - You're A Target

i am totallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy diggin' this new no age. this little l.a. duo is proof that all you need is a guitar/set of drums to make some out of control noise but still manage to make it sound dreamy. just imagine sonic youth & chapterhouse thrown in a blender. might want to add some my bloody valentine & fugazi in there for good measure.

the past two albums were amazing but they have a new ep coming out in october which you can already listen to in full on sub pop records.

there might just be hope for hollywood yet.............

here is your indian summer......

i still prefer to write my short stories/poetry/novels long hand as opposed to putting it on my computer. i still listen to my cds while my ipod collects dust in the closet. and i love it when musicans keep it old school by releasing their stuff on cassette tape only. which is exactly what forest swords does.

im pretty stoked about his (solo artist with a band name get it?) new video for his song 'glory gongs'. like 'miarches' before it, its a hazy blend of dronestep goodness that aches for some body rubbing with your loved one.

or maybe just a lover? whichever suits you at the time......

otto the octopus approves.....

The Radio Dept - David (Rice Twins Remix)

The Rice Twins - Can I Say (Bunny Video!)

the swedes always manage to get it right.

everytime i turn around they're producing these upbeat orgasmic sounds that shake you & can't make you do anything but smile. anyone from lykke li, the hives, the cardigans, mando diao, jens lekman, jose gonzalez, the knife, eric prydz, peter bjorn & john, dungen....i mean this is just to mention a few who constantly make happy homes in my musical life.

today im giving you my favorite rice twins song/video along with the recently released remix of fellow swedish darlings the radio dept's "david". electronica & mellow indie rock make for a pleased stacey so i hope they have that same orgasmic effect on you......

are there frenchmen in williamsburg?

crystal stilts - prismatic room

Or watch the dreamy video here

so i'm convinced that im either going to marry a french artist that likes to take me on picnics at the park or a lead singer of a band from brooklyn that will play me records in bed. im serious - im convinced.

today i just happen to be in more of a brooklyn mood - more specifically in the mood for some crystal stilts. they're the perfect blend of shoegaze-esque psych rock that a 60's bob dylan would probably get a hard on to play with them.

come to think of it marrying a 60's bob dylan wouldn't be so bad......

swedish delight.....

God knows this town feels cursed sometimes. Days when dark, heavy clouds are embedding Gothenburg from the southern factories to the grimy oil refineries in the western harbour, and when the love of your life leaves with a taxi you haven't ordered, you reach for the suitcase you keep packed and ready under the bed. But every time you try to leave, there's something holding you back, keeping you here. Like today, an absolutely wonderful June afternoon, 28 °C, slightly cooler in the shade, the setting sun drenching the city centre rooftops in a deep hue of pinks, yellows and purples. And strolling down the Vasa avenue, there's a sense of good times on the rise, a sense of a town that belongs to you and you alone. It's as if everyone's been listening to Bill Withers "Lovely Day" before leaving the house, feeling that same unbridled optimism. I do.

For us, geography and architecture are essential elements of pop. It may be slightly naïve, but I have to believe there's a way for pop music to prevent commercial takeover of public spaces, a way for pop to demolish shopping centres and make room for a city's inhabitants. The City, whether it's here or somewhere else, is yours. This small, simple project, named GBG Belongs to Us, is a selection of love letters to the places and the people who makes this town a lovely one to live in. To everyone who's heart skips a beat at the sight of an intersection, feeling dizzy at the amount of routes available, and to everyone who believe that a city is not just a home, it's a lifelong companion.

Best,
Air France, June 2009

again if you know me you know im a sucker for passion - especially a writers passion. that letter pulled my heartstrings a little and maybe even want to fall in love in another city.

but what's funny is the song, GBG Belongs To Us, air france made to go along with it (an ode to their city gothenburg, sweden) never really caught my ear. i much prefer Collapsing At Your Doorstep. Something a bit more carefree and moving about it.

I guess you can be the decide.

the dark side of the moon.....

Sinake - Totally Hot But Pretty Awesome

im very much in the need for some calm right now. so that's why i take much delight in the soothing tunes of Sinkane. in just coming out with his third album it's apparent this is what he likes (masters in my opinion) to do when he's not drumming his little heart out for caribou & of montreal.

sounds like good times to me.........

i've got my mind set on you......

yim yames - my sweet lord

if you know me then you know my love for jim james...or in this case yim yames. he's one of the few voices that REALLY captivate my inner soul & tugs on it like a loose skirt waiting to come off.

normally if someone did an ep with covers of george harrison tunes it would be a laughable waste of good recording tape but jj/yy manages to pull it off with sweet perfection.

jim....im waiting here when you're ready. <3
