low fidelity > high fidelity

High Places - Late Bloomer from Transformation Surprise on Vimeo.

i've always thought of this band high places as the mirrored duo of avey tare & kría brekkan (who in their own right produced one of the most brillantly bizzare albums pullhair rubeye). they're one of those musical entities that add just the right amount of lo-fi drizzled magic with catchy poptastic bleeps drowned in vocoder-esque female vocals.

i was going to add this new track, late bloomer, on a new mix i'm making but coming in just shy of 12 minutes long i think it's one left better standing on it's own. and i don't doubt these guys took a little something something to get them in the mood when making the video for it. you'll see what i mean............

come pick me up.....

it's always a little sad when you find out things on the recent that you'd much rather had not known. seriously, people still tend to amaze with how much they can hurt another human being. their actions, the things they say.....i mean i thought we were supposed to be grown ups here?

too bad dm stith isn't coming to town when's he's on tour this fall supporting his debut album. i have a feeling he & i would have a great time with a few limes and a bottle of vodka.

dm stith - pity dance

or watch the hauntingly beautiful video HERE.

thank goodness i've been having SO much damn fun lately <3

Shake it 'til the sun becomes the moon....

it's friday night..

it's raining outside...

delicious beers & minimaltech sounds are flowing....

stimming makes my own little club better than any place else right now. when i first heard this track it brought back memories of b.p.t.'s - moody. the more sexy electronica is the better.

i change my mind. forget the frenchman & brooklyn band leader tonight. im having a steamy love affair with a guy who plays stuff like this for me....

Writing a book, hippie? Why don't you go listen to some folk music and give me a break!

french girls rule. they either seem really sexy or really adorable - either way you win right? that's why i absolutely can't get enough of eglantine gouzy who's 1/2 of get back guinozzi. (check out some solo tracks here courtesy of fatcat records, one of my personal favorite record labels gbg just signed to)

not only does this love child video give you some nice hussy nudity but it gives you the day-glo screeched infused pop that makes you want to dance in a tshirt & undies right in the middle of the living room.

don't make fun of how i spend my time alone..........

a guinness & an orange sounds lovely now.....

Subplots - Episode 1 - Call To Arms from thisredbook on Vimeo.

apparently things are happening in ireland. i have a friend that lives there that might argue with me but since this irish band, subplots came out with a delicately put debut album like this back in may i think i have a little elbow room. nothing really out of the oridinary or over the top going on here but honestly sometimes you don't need all of that bs. it's just mezmerizing jeff buckley-esque guitars, thom york infused vocals and that bass sound that always made me want to learn to play a bass guitar like that.

that little dreamy break at the 1:20 mark makes this track all worth listening to. and makes me want to get out my mickey mouse sweatshirt again. <3

this must be where the sacrifice virgins....

i had this instant attraction to this band wild beasts when i heard them a few years back. their debut album with this ?!?!?!?! track on it was quirky brit greatness. something about those screeching voices rubs me the right way. (they have 2 lead singers - funnnnnnn.)

and i must say im rather much enjoying their second album that came out last month. its starting not to be so hot so this video kinda gives me that warm end of the summer feeling.

i think this might be the first summer that i actually appreciated.......

kick testosterone with karate.....

i was noticing that august had too much male comradery going on it. so for september i'm going to try and add a few girls that i think are spectacular. and while this video isn't anything new i have my moments where i like to go through all of my music i've had a bit and revisit.

today was just for joanna newsom. i mean really....who channels their inner kate bush & plays a harp these days? not only that but makes it look so sultry too?

she's the kind of girl you wrap up and put in your pocket but she just won't stay.

*sigh*
