keep it minimal

today i bring you german darlings, Brandt Brauer Frick who blend a bit of house, jazz & techno for your listening pleasure. i wish i could give you an mp3 but you'll just have to fancy the fetching video they made for their track "bop". first album will be out early next year so take note - i have a feeling these guys might blow up a tiny bit.

jane says im done with sergio.

jane - agg report

this past week i've been trying to refrain from listening to new tunes & instead revisiting some older music. while going through my library it made me start thinking how much i wish jane would put out another album. this track " agg report" is from their 2005 album (& last album they released), beserker.

just some smooth, haunting, experimental electronic goodness to ease down the holidays. and now that christmas is over its ok to be naughty a bit so don't watch this video at work. totally NSFW!

the silver factory

Faux Paus - Silver Line

i couldn't decide what was more fetching in this latest track released by melbourne lad faux paus. the pumping rave-esque beats that starts you off. the kria brekkan tweaked vocals, courtsey of fellow aussies the orbweavers. or all of the electronic goodness that gets it to its peak. whatever it was....it became infectious.

faux pas new album will be coming out feb. 2010 that i hear contains a 6 minute version of this track but alas i give you the short, short version.

p.s. - it's snowing!

the happiest place on earth!

brit producer joy orbison has been tickling my fancy for the past couple of months. he put out one of my favorite feel good downtempo-infused mixes of the summer & now the magically disneylicious video for "BKLYN CLLNG" pops up.

but low & behold this isnt the first time the lite brite parade has received the electronic treatment. san fran's matmos put it to good use for their 2003 track 'stars & stripes forever':

space oddity!

with this rather cold weather we've been having i've been in the mood to listen to tracks with a little pep in their step. something to keep me "alive" i guess you would say.

The Time and Space Machine, who's debut album will be out next year, blends warm psychedelic sounds with an electronic twist ala' the beta band. mastermind richard norris is behind this project who is also 1/2 of Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve with that turkish delight know as erol alkan.

this should make you feel all warm & fuzzy inside.

i'm not your fantasy girl. <3

i was reallyyyyyyyyyyyy bad about updating in november so i promise to be a little better this month. case in point - i've been sitting on some tracks from new england's Merrill Garbus, who's better known by her stage name tUnE-YaRdS, since the summer.

flat out, this girl is freaking BAD ASS. if stereolab decided to be quirky for a day & make r&b infused tunes this is what it would sound like. the just as awesome 4AD records released her debut album last month that included the new track, real live flesh. you can see it performed live in the video above, which in my opinion surpasses the recorded version. so i think that means she's probably just as bad ass live.

hey merrill, get your bad ass self with the bad ass haircut i wish i could pull off to dallas asap!

tUnE-YaRdS - real live flesh

tUnE-YaRdS - sunlight
