gil scott-heron - me and the devil

this is probably what it would feel like.

its hard to believe that gil scott-heron is 60 years old & putting out such gritty, dark & intoxicating tunes like this. but i always say never let age stop you from doing what you want to do. quit complaing about how old you're getting & just enjoy life as YOU want it.

no doubt GSH might feel a little bit of the same way. his umpteenth album will be out early next month & from what i've heard so far im sure it's a sign this guy is just going to keep on trucking.

Memoryhouse - The Years (EP)

canada has been bringing it this week. i finally got to sample the new ep from ontario's memoryhouse. coming in just under 12 minutes its a little slice of "chill" heaven. and this is one of those bands who keeps it real & will be releasing their 7 song ep soon on (of all things) cassette tape!

fans of beach house will definitely enjoy.

the besnard lakes - albatross

i can't even begin to tell you how anxious i've been to get my grubby little paws on the first single to be released from the besnard lakes upcoming third album: The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night. and honestly, it was everything i was hoping it would be.

it was quite a nice surprise to hear lead singer jace lasek give way to his wife olga to take the lead on singing. the track is all the soothing vocals coated with heavy guitars & cymbal crashing drums that you could need.

this little canadian quartet was one of my favorite bands to emerge in the 00's. and now with this new album, getting to score the music for mark ruffalo's new film 'Sympathy For Delicious' & recently collaborating on a track with ex-swervdriver frontman adam franklin, i really think 2010 is going to be their year.
